We use essential cookies for authentication and database consistency, functional browser preferences, and optional analytics. With your consent, PostHog and Google Analytics measure feature usage. PostHog uses local storage, not advertising cookies. Session replay, automatic click capture, and personalized advertising are disabled. Advertising measurement is available with a separate opt-in.

Authentication cookies keep you signed in. A short-lived database bookmark cookie helps show your latest changes consistently. These cookies support core functionality and are independent of optional analytics.

We store small preferences in your browser's local storage to remember your choices. Consent decisions may also be recorded on our servers:

• Your theme (light/dark/system) preference.
• Your preferred calendar view.
• Recent searches, so the search palette can suggest them.
• Whether you dismissed the app-install prompt.
• Your analytics consent choice (see below).

When configured and you opt in, PostHog stores a random browser identifier in local storage to measure repeat visits and feature usage. We do not link it to your account ID, email, or name. Events contain page categories and actions, not movie titles, search text, AI prompts, or private URLs. Your browser connects to PostHog to deliver these events; IP-based geolocation enrichment is disabled. Disabling analytics clears the local analytics identity and stops new collection; it does not delete events already received by PostHog. Contact privacy@whattowatch.app for data requests.

Google Analytics loads only after you accept analytics. With your consent, it uses _ga and _ga_* cookies to measure visits. Your browser sends page categories and consented feature actions directly to Google, without search text, AI prompts, private URLs, or your WMTW account ID. Advertising storage and advertising data sharing require a separate opt-in below. Google signals and ad personalization remain disabled. Rejecting analytics stops PostHog events and Google action tracking and denies analytics and advertising storage. It stops new Google measurements and clears accessible Google analytics cookies. This does not delete events already received.

• Analytics consent — use the controls above or the first-visit banner. Rejecting stops new PostHog and Google measurements and clears optional analytics storage.
• Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends a DNT or GPC signal, we treat it as a rejection automatically and do not show the banner.
• Clear local storage — clearing site data in your browser removes stored preferences and your saved consent choice, so you'll be asked again.

Accepting analytics enables Google Analytics and PostHog analytics storage and feature events. It does not enable advertising measurement. Reject optional disables analytics and advertising storage and feature tracking. Neither analytics provider receives optional measurements before acceptance. You can use the site without accepting optional cookies and change your choice here at any time.

To opt out of advertising-related sharing, use Disable advertising measurement above, or Disable analytics to disable both purposes. We honor Global Privacy Control automatically, including for visitors with US state privacy opt-out rights. Personalized advertising and session recordings are disabled.
